Even though show business is one of the main reasons why people up and move to L.A., loads still struggle to stay there long enough to succeed in their end goals. This is why many move only after they can guarantee either employment within the first weeks, or at least an interview or two.
Some of the global brands we all know and look up too have headquartered in L.A. and became giants in their industries from there.
These include companies like Tesla, Honda, Dole Foods and Nestle. That said, the economic activity in L.A. stretches out to multiple other industries, including:
- Aerospace & Defense
- Marketing, Publishing, and Design
Most people don’t see their dreams come true overnight, so they end up having to work in industries or take jobs they never planned on taking, just to be able to continue working towards their dreams.
Finding a Job in L.A. Quickly (Los Angeles Recruiters)
Anyone who is looking to score a job as quickly as possible, should probably first register with temp and staffing agencies, with as many as they can find. This still doesn’t guarantee you’ll starting working anytime soon, but at least it increases your chances vastly.
If anything, people who are registered with Los Angeles recruiters, or any kind of multiple temp and staffing agencies, should expect at least a temporary job.
This gets the cash flowing at least a bit until you find a better opportunity.
Those who don’t get any kind of job within the first few weeks, should make a note to regularly contact all the agencies they’ve signed up with to remind them that they’re available and still actively looking for a job.
Anyone in this situation should be ready to work in virtually in any field if they’re to stay in L.A. and eventually do what they came there to do. This is specifically important if you don’t have any previous working experience.
That’s why singing up with as many Los Angeles recruiters as possible is so important.
If there’s a job opportunity that you really feel you’ll hate, you should probably still accept it and do you best until a better thing comes along.
This can be anything from being a temp in an IT start-up, working in retail, a fast-food joint, to scoring one of L.A.’s accounting jobs.
Things to do While Job Hunting
Even though common sense tells us we should hold on to our finances and avoid spending more than we need to – at least until we find a job – plenty of us still simply decline to sit in a room all day and wait for that call.
Maybe you don’t want to take one of those accounting jobs, maybe you need a good distraction if you do. If that’s the case, L.A. has plenty to offer for all those with a lot of free time on their hands.
Plethora of Annual Events in L.A.
They say that when there’s a party in L.A., the whole world is watching. This isn’t hard to believe, considering that many of the world’s most-televised events happen in the city of angels.
While you’re not looking for any of those accounting jobs, consider checking out the Golden Globe Awards, Acamdey Awards, Grammy Awards, the L.A. Film and Pride festivals, the Emmy Awards, the Hollywood Christmas Parade, and plenty more.
In fact, there are at least twenty different ‘big’ L.A. annual events that you can be a part of.
And if you’re not looking to attend or volunteer in any awards, films, or sports, events, there’s always the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval, which regularly draws in around 500,000 people in attendance.
Biggest Sports Events in L.A.
Are you a sports freak? If you are, L.A. will keep you so busy with all of its sports events that you’ll forget you were even looking for a job.
Now that I think of it, this probably isn’t a good thing for you, but if you keep your wits about you, you’ll know to have fun while still keeping an eye out for that call.
L.A. is home to at least a dozen of live sports events every year.
There’s plenty of sports to choose from, take your pick. Whether you’re into college football, baseball, basketball, hockey, or even soccer, you’ll have something to watch and a team to cheer for while you wait for that call.
The Best of L.A. Nightlife
You probably already know that L.A. is big on any kind of nightlife. If you’re here for at least a few months, you’re bound to attend a concert of a band on tour.
In fact, if your favorite band is on tour that year, one of their stops will definitely be L.A. Every artist, young and old, down or up on the success ladder, will do their thing here.
If you’re more of a performer, you can always sign up for karaoke in Koreatown, and show L.A. what you’re made of.
In summary, if you’re an extrovert who thrives at night-time and love to socialize and party hard, you’ll probably skip on all other activities and just own the city at night.
And by day, keep looking for more Los Angeles recruiters to sign up with, and be sure to accept anything that comes at you, even one of those accounting jobs.
